The StudentsInternational Campus Olten, Franziskushaus is a student residence located near Olten, Switzerland. It offers inexpensive accommodation for more than 80 people. Most tenants are international students who visit the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW. However, the campus is open to everyone and is for example also well suited for people making an internship in the region.
The CampusThe building was constructed in the 1960's and was originally designed as a monastery by architect Otto Glaus, a student of Le Corbusier. In 2011, it was bought by Immocon AG and consequently renovated to become a student residence. Among other things, the kitchen was refurbished during renovation and a state of the art fire and security system was installed. The first students then arrived in autumn 2012.
After accommodating hundreds of students from more than 40 countries during four years, Franziskushaus eventually is stopping operation in fall 2016.
